Molly - 1 year old Maltese X Possible Westie
Pound puppy Molly, was surrendered after her owner passed away.
Teddy - 10 year old Westie
Teddy - 10 year old Westie
Found roaming the streets, matted & fleas crawling all over him, this little guy was put into the pound & his owner never reclaimed him. He was quickly named Teddy after responding to him being described as, "cute as a teddy bear", we whisked him off to our vet, to find that he was suffering from pneumonia, thanks to the infection caused by 4 rotting teeth in his mouth. He has since found a wonderful home with fellow AWR's Dotti.
Henry - Westie
Henry - Westie
Left in his backyard after his owner sold the house & left, thankfully his kind neighbour did the right thing & contacted AWR. Henry has found the perfect place to call home & now lives with a fun loving Labrador.
Fergus - 18 month old Westie X Poodle
Fergus - 18 month old Westie X Poodle
Fergus was sold at 8 weeks old in the local newspaper as a pure bred Westie. But like so many newspaper sales, this was not true. He was definitely a cross bred, but yet 18 months later when he was surrendered, his owners still thought he was a pure bred Westie. It didn't matter to us, as he was a delight & shortly after being surrendered, he met his best mate AWR's Sugar. A family were interested in adopting a Westie, but when they saw Fergus & Sugar together, they knew that they had to have both of them.
Sugar - Westie
Sugar - Westie
This cheeky little girl was surrendered to a Victorian pound. It soon became apparent that not only had she had one of her front legs amputated, but that she had been used for breeding, even after her leg was amputated. Sugar is a typical Westie & in her very stoic manner, never let anything prevent her from getting where she wanted to go. She became best mates with AWR's Fergus & were soon adopted together.
Charlotte - 2year old Westie
Charlotte - 2year old Westie
Surrendered to AWR because her owners were moving. She is now being totally & utterly doted on by her forever mum.
Stella - Westie
Stella - Westie
Stella got her name because of her being such a stoic, "stella" Westie. She had been a breeding bitch before being surrendered to AWR & her body certainly showed the signs of this. Even though she had little socialisation in her life, Stella was incredibly confident & would be the first to approach any visitors. She is now living the life of luxury, with her very loving forever parents. There isn't anything that they wouldn't do for Miss Stella & that's exactly what she deserves.
Henny - 8 year old Westie
Henny - 8 year old Westie
Henny came from a sheep station where she used to wander about the place checking out wombat holes. Now she regularly roams the local golf course with her wonderful new owner & has become the socialite who greets everyone on her frequent walks around the local township with her forever mum.
Charlie - Cross Bred Westie
Charlie - Cross Bred Westie
Pound puppy from NSW.
Heidi - 7 year old Westie
Heidi - 7 year old Westie
Heidi got her name because it was the very act that this previously very isolated Westie would do whenever she was around people. But slowly after time Heidi's confidence grew. She was adopted by the most wonderfully kind & patient family, who gave her the space & time that she needed to adapt to new things, which over time helped her confidence grow. She is no longer the little white dog that goes hiding, she is now the bold Westie that she was intended to be. She is now the first to go & greet every visitor that arrives at her forever home. Heidi has officially found her "Westitude", thanks to her amazing forever family.

Aggie - Westie
Aggie - Westie
Aggie was born deaf, but you can't tell her that it's a disability. She came to us at 9 years of age, with her 4 day old pup, who unfortunately didn't make it. Sadly "Little Pup" passed away a week later, due to Fading Puppy Syndrome (similar to the human form of SIDS). Little Miss Aggie stayed with us for a year, before we finally had all of her skin issues caused by food allergies, under control. Allergic to numerous foods, we finally found that a good mixture of fresh lamb meat & fat, was the key to her recovery & no more itching. She now lives in the very capable & loving hands of her forever mum & her old friend Fergus (former AWR babe, who also suffers from food allergy), in bright sunny Mildura.
